Son of film actor, producer and director, Thiagarajan, Prasanth at the age of 24, has 37 successful films to his credit in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. A bharatanatyam exponent, trained in several martial arts like Kung-Fu, Karate (obtained Black-Belt), Silambam, Kalari, Gymnastics, Roller Skating, Horse Riding, Rowing & Yatching. Prasanth is a high board diver and long distance sea swimmer. He has penchant taste for Music. Plays many musical instruments, passed third grade in music - Piano in the Trinity College Of Music - London. He is currently the only young actor to act under the best directors in the industry like Manirathnam, Shankar, Balu Mahendra etc. Prasanth made his debut through his Silver Jubilee Hit Vaigasi Poranthatchi and instaneously won the best new face award for the year 1990. And his second film Vanna Vanna Pookkal directed by Balu Mahendra has won National Award for 1991. Fourth film Chembaruthi established Prasanth as one of the top acting cum romantic heroes and the film celebrated Silver Jubilee. Then came Sathya Movies - Enga Thambi, Thirupur Mani's Unakkaga Piranthen, Manivannan's Rasamagan, Manoj Kumar's Senthamizh Selvan, R.K.Selvamani's Kanmani and Manirathinam's Thiruda Thiruda in all these movies Prasanth's composed and matured performance was widely appreciated. Prasanth's Hindi venture I Love You and Ano Ka Premyuth, and Manirathinam's Chor Chor earned him a good berth in Bollywood as well. His first attempt in Malayalam field Perunthachan has won him National award. His Telugu films Tholli Muddu (with Divya Bharathi), Prema Vijayam, Latti, Prema Sikkaram, Premapattam, Allariprema and Manirathinam's Donga Donga all were super hits and has placed Prasanth in a very big position in Telugu Cinema too. His career best film Anazhagan directed by his father Thiagarajan. He acted as a lady character in this entire film. That's the first time a leading hero acting as a lady in full length. Prasanth signed up with Hollywood film maker Ashok Amrithraj, to do a film in Prasanth's career best prestigious film Jeans. In which he was paired with 'Miss World' Aiswarya Rai.
Tamilnadu Government felicitated Prasanth and awarded him the coveted "Kalaimamani" award thus making Prasanth the Youngest Star to receive it. His latest films were Sivasakthi Pandian's Kannethirey Thondrinal, Kathal Kavithai Directed by Ahathiyan, Jodi, Hello, Aasaiyil Oor Kaditham. Prasanth takes time off his busy schedule, to reply to all his fans the world over, so much that he set up his own website on the internet, where his fans would be able to view his photographs, clippings from his movies and be able to talk to him over the net.
