Arvind Swamy started his film carrer in Maniratnam's Thalapathi. His first film as Hero was Maniratnam' s Roja. The movie was a hit through out the country and Arvind Swamy' s impressive performance established his position as an actor. He is very selective about his roles. Though he has acted in lesser number of movies most of them are hits. He has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. His hits include Roja, Bombay, Minsara Kanavu, Indira, Devaraagam, En Svasa Kattre etc.
